Your First Lesson at Kill Creek Arena

Your First Visit to Kill Creek Arena: What to Know Before You Go

Your first visit to Kill Creek Arena is about more than time in the saddle. Be ready for a genuine riding experience—from catching your horse and getting them ready to ride to cooling them off and putting them away afterward. Spending time with your horse before and after your ride is part of the experience!

Before Your Lesson

All lesson participants must complete and sign our Equine Activity Release and Hold Harmless Agreement before riding. Please download, print, and sign the agreement, and bring your completed copy to your lesson.

Where to Park

When you arrive, please park in the parking lot adjacent to the horse barn.

What to Wear and Bring

A little preparation will help you feel comfortable and ready to enjoy your visit:

  • Closed-toe shoes, preferably boots. Leave sandals and open-toe shoes at home.

  • Long pants. These help keep your legs comfortable in the saddle.

  • Riding Helmet. A helmet will be provided however, if you plan on riding frequently you might want to consider investing in one of your own. Ask your instructor for recommendations.

  • Sunscreen and bug repellent in the summer. Come prepared for time outdoors.

Choose comfortable clothes that let you move freely—and that you don’t mind getting a little dirty!

More Than Just a Ride

Your experience starts before you climb into the saddle. You’ll take part in catching, grooming, and tacking up your horse, getting to know them as you prepare for your ride.

The care continues when the riding is done. Cooling your horse off and putting them back where they are boarded are just as much a part of the visit as saddling up. It’s a chance to experience the responsibility, care, and connection that go into working with horses.

Come Ready to Take Part

Bring your curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a little room for dust on your boots and dirt on your jeans. We look forward to welcoming you to Kill Creek Arena and sharing the full riding experience with you!
