Now Seeking: Stable Hand

We’re looking for a reliable Stable Hand to assist with daily horse care and barn upkeep at our facility in De Soto, Kansas. This is hands-on work for someone who enjoys being active, working around horses, and seeing a job through from start to finish.

Starting pay: $15 per hour
Location: 10405 Kill Creek Road, De Soto, KS 66018
Schedule: Flexible scheduling; weekend availability required
Engagement: Vendor / independent contractor opportunity

Available Shifts

We have three shift options available:

• Morning 7:00–10:00 a.m.

• Midday 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

• Evening4:00–7:00 p.m.

Let us know which shifts fit your availability. Scheduling is flexible, but applicants must be able to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

What You’ll Do

Our Stable Hand supports the everyday care that keeps our horses comfortable and our barn running smoothly. Duties include:

• Feeding hay and grain according to written instructions.

• Checking, filling, and cleaning water buckets or troughs.

• Cleaning stalls and replacing bedding.

• Catching, haltering, leading, and turning out horses.

• Cleaning grooming areas, aisles, and arenas.

• Handling manure and using barn cleaning tools.

Cleaning up after yourself, putting supplies away, and returning tools where they belong are part of every shift.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d like to hear from someone who:

• Is dependable and communicates clearly.

• Can follow written feeding and care instructions carefully.

• Treats horses calmly, patiently, and respectfully.

• Notices when something needs attention and reports concerns promptly.

• Takes pride in maintaining clean, organized shared spaces.

• Is comfortable with active barn work and changing weather.

• Is available to work weekends.

Previous horse care, farm, boarding barn, or stable experience is preferred but, we are willing to train the right person.

Vendor Arrangement

This opportunity is intended for an independent contractor, you are responsible for reporting your income on your tax return and paying applicable taxes. We will give you the necessary tax form (1099) every year to do this. Services, scheduling, and payment terms will be discussed before work begins.
